Synopsis

Through a NY apartment window, the people who write our trashiest, most delicious airplane reads, have a complete inability to separate fiction from life. On the eve he was supposed to release the book that would outsell the rest of the trash-writing world, Scott Diamond, America’s best-selling romance writer, is murdered in splashy pulp novel fashion. When the news reaches Scott’s publishing house, four writers, all masters of the most abominable writing, go on a booze-addled quest to steal his missing novel. The only problem is each writer spends a good amount of time in their own head, where they are the hero of their own technicolored melodramas. When they open their eyes, they are their clumsy, drunken, nebbishy selves again, and have managed to take every situation miles below rock bottom.

Hedley Harlan

Hedley began her education in opera and dance and she quickly began appearing in music videos, appearing in videos for Natasha Beddingfield, Jay-Z, Seether, Grace Potter, Movielife, The New Tarot and The One Eighties. While shooting in Los Angeles, Hedley started working for Film Fanatics under the helm of director and producer Franz Harland and in partnership with Columbia University. She spent the next five years with the Film Fanatics team, covering film festivals in Havana, Prague, Rome and Cannes and learning about the film industry.

Hedley’s first screenplay, Smash the Kitty starring her and Jason Ritter, was lauded as, “A morally corrupt story about the decline of journalism or, perhaps the entire western civilization, mixing dark humor with an absurdly happy soundtrack.” Hedley’s second film, Late Lunch, a horror comedy, tells of a man who finds a sinister way to stop his wife from giving their money to charity and carved a bloody trail through the horror circuit that year. Hedley also conceptualized and produced music videos, reality pilots and commercials. Hedley’s feature work has won awards at Slamdance, Vancouver, NY Horror, LA International, Oxford, Depth of Field, London, Tahoe and Geneva International in partnership with CERN. Hedley’s writing tends to depict violence and mania with a gleeful wholesomeness and a keen insight to society’s hypocrisies.

As an actor, Hedley has recurred in MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch, Blacklist Redemption, The Walking Dead: Dead City and, out in 2025, The LONG BRIGHT RIVER opposite Amanda Seyfried.
